2. Data in the Button app

Button has no user account. Your baby's profile, saved places, clothing, outings and settings stay on your device. Widgets use a shared local copy of relevant settings and location on the same device. We do not store your baby's profile on our servers. Apple may include local app data in your device backup, depending on your settings.

In the Button app, location access is optional. If you allow it, Button uses your device location to find your place and request local weather. Location coordinates are sent to Apple services as needed to provide place and weather information. You can use the app without location access by entering a city manually. Apple explains its handling of location data in its privacy policy.

Apple handles App Store payments. RevenueCat processes a randomly generated App User ID, device and app information, purchase and receipt information, and subscription status. This lets Button unlock and restore access and lets us understand purchases, renewals and cancellations. We do not send RevenueCat your baby's profile, name, email address or location, and we do not receive your card details or Apple Account email address. Read App Store and Privacy and the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

We process data needed to provide the service or purchase you request under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Purchase reporting supports our legitimate interest in understanding and running the paid service under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Optional device location access uses your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can change it in your device Settings.

3. Data on the website

Cloudflare hosts and protects the website. It processes standard connection data, including your IP address, browser details, requested page and time of access. This is necessary to deliver and secure the site. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure website under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

If you search for a city or open a forecast, Button processes the search and selected place to return that result. The selected city's coordinates are sent from our server to Apple Weather to request the forecast. We do not send your search text or IP address to Apple for this request. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.

The app can download Guides, clothing reference content and pictures from this website. These requests also create the ordinary connection data described above.

Button does not use analytics or advertising cookies, advertising identifiers or cross-site tracking.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand visits and page loading performance. It does not use cookies or browser storage and does not track you across websites. This helps us keep the website fast and reliable. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in understanding and improving website performance.

4. Support

If you email us, we use your email address, message and attachments to answer you. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR when your message concerns the service, and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for other support. We keep messages only as long as needed to handle the request or meet a legal duty.

5. Affiliate links

Button may show links that are clearly marked as affiliate links. If you follow one, the retailer may record the referral and we may receive a commission. The retailer handles its own data processing. Button will ask for consent before placing any non-essential tracking cookie where the law requires it.

6. Service providers and international transfers

  • Cloudflare hosts and protects the website.
  • Apple provides location and App Store services for the app. Apple Weather provides forecasts for the app and website.
  • RevenueCat manages purchase access and reporting.
  • Our email provider delivers support messages.

Some providers process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where required, transfers are protected by an EU adequacy decision or safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. More information is available in the linked provider privacy policies.

7. How long data is kept

Local app data remains until you remove it from Button or your device. Connection, purchase and support data is kept only as long as needed for the purpose described above or for a legal duty. The providers named above also apply their own retention rules.

8. Your rights

Depending on the legal conditions, you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restricted processing or a portable copy of your personal data. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent for the future. Write to hello@weatherbutton.com.

You can also complain to a data protection authority. Our authority is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

9. Changes

We update this policy when the way Button handles personal data changes. The date at the top shows the current version.
